swimming

I am a former competitive swimmer. I swam competitively for a club team throughout childhood and adolescence, my varsity high school team (Ventura High School, CA), and my varsity college team (MIT, NCAA Div III). My specialties were the 200 backstroke and the 200 and 400 IM (Individual Medley).

In high school I competed at the California CIF Swimming & Diving State Championships all four years (100 back, 200 IM, and relays). In college I was captain of the MIT Women's Swim Team, 2004-2005, and made NCAA Div III National Cuts in the 400 IM. I am a former MIT record holder in both the 200 and 400 IM and a former NEWMAC conference record holder in the 400 IM.

Here is an old copy of the MIT Tech from back in my swimming heyday—see tiny sports section. :)

As a retired swimmer I am now slightly obsessed with aerial rope. Aerial rope, also known as corde lisse, is a form of circus art in which the artist performs aerial acrobatics while hanging from a vertical rope.
