associate professor of economics
macroeconomist & applied theorist
I am an Associate Professor of Economics at Columbia University in the Department of Economics. I am also a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) and a Research Fellow at the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR). I currently serve as an Associate Editor at the Journal of Political Economy, American Economic Review: Insights, and the Review of Economic Dynamics.
From 2020-2021 I served as a Monetary Advisor at the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis, and from 2016-2017 I was a Visiting Fellow at the Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research. Prior to joining the economics department faculty at Columbia, I was an Assistant Professor of Economics at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
I received my bachelor’s degree from MIT in 2005 and my Ph.D. from MIT in 2010. In 2016, I was a recipient of the NSF CAREER award.
I am a macroeconomist and an applied theorist. My research focuses on the effects of informational frictions on business cycles and the macroeconomic implications of micro distortions in production networks. My work often applies game-theoretic tools to answer macroeconomic questions.
