swimming

I am a former competitive swimmer. I swam competitively for a club team throughout my childhood and teenage years, for my high school varsity team (Ventura High School, CA), and for my college varsity team (MIT, NCAA Div III). My specialties were the 200 backstroke and the 200 and 400 IM (individual medley).

In college I was captain of the MIT Women's Swimming & Diving Team for the 2004-2005 season (my senior year). I was the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) champion in the 400 IM, the MIT record-holder in both the 200 IM and 400 IM, the NEWMAC conference record-holder in the 400 IM, and I made NCAA Division III National Championships Cuts in the 400 IM.

In high school I competed at the California CIF Swimming & Diving State Championships and various invitationals (Janet Evan invitational, Q meets, etc.) I held the Ventura High School record in the 100 back.

Here is an old copy of the MIT Tech from back in my swimming heyday—when I broke both the MIT and conference record in the 400 IM. See super tiny sports section.

As a retired swimmer I am now slightly obsessed with aerial rope. Aerial rope, also known as corde lisse, is a form of circus art in which the artist performs aerial acrobatics while hanging from a vertical rope.
